Wind Vanes
The design of your yacht's stern has a lot to say about
the vane that you choose. Several are on the market; most are tried and
true. Those mentioned here are strong units which have been tried by serious
cruisers.

If you look around, it's still possible to get original parts second hand.

Scanmar International
is home of the Monitor Wind Vane and one of the largest manufacturers
and suppliers for self steering and wind vane equipment. Hans is always
ready to help and advise you as to the different alternatives.
Hydrovane are specialists
in self steering navigation systems for sailboats. Strong and efficient,
Hydrovane has been on the market for many years, is well-known to serious
cruisers and is now getting the publicity it has needed.
Cape Horn is not so well known but well worth looking at. Strong, simple, efficient and, like the Hydrovane, it gives you a spare rudder.
